RIP Scott Weiland Quote

RIP Scott Weiland Quote

As I read the news this morning my heart hurt, another part of my youth slipping away. Scott Weiland Dead at 48 the headline read, and while the final story has yet to be told. You have to assume that drugs are the reason for his passing away in his tour bus, not matter he was doing them that day or not.  Struggles with Heroin and Cocaine take a tole on anyone body, and at 48 his body could take no more… That’s only 7 years for me, and that in itself is a little scary to me. I first saw Stone Temple Pilots on a steamy July Night in 1993 at the Riverport Amphitheater in St. Louis, MO. I wasn’t a fan, in fact I was an anti-fan, buying into the idea that they “stole” their sound from the Seattle scene. Alas, I was convinced to go, and if I didn’t enjoy the show, my buddy was going to pay me back for the ticket… They made a fan for life, and I saw them a few other times after that. Like many other STP fans I was disappointed when Scott left the band the first time, and rejoiced when he got back together with them. He was a great musician, and he will be missed by many, my thoughts and prayers go out to the family. RIP Scott Weiland   Save About Sam LeeMarketer, Photographer, and Meme Generator. RIP Oliver Sacks

RIP Oliver Sacks

Oliver Sacks died early this morning at his home in Greenwich Village, surrounded by his close friends and family. He was 82. He spent his final days doing what he loved—playing the piano, writing to friends, swimming, enjoying smoked salmon, and completing several articles. His final thoughts were of gratitude for a life well lived and the privilege of working with his patients at various hospitals and residences including the Little Sisters of the Poor in the Bronx and in Queens, New York. Dr. Sacks was writing to the last. On August 14, he published an essay, “Sabbath,” in the New York Times. Two more articles are to be published this week, one in the New York Review of Books and one in the New Yorker. Sacks also left several nearly completed books and a vast archive of correspondence, manuscripts, and journals. Before his death, Sacks established the Oliver Sacks Foundation, a nonprofit organization devoted to increasing understanding of the human brain and mind through the power of narrative nonfiction and case histories. The foundation’s goals include making Dr. Sacks’s published and yet-unpublished writings available to the broadest possible audience, preserving and digitizing materials related to his life and work and making them available for scholarly use, working to reduce the stigma of mental and neurological illness, and supporting a humane approach to neurology and psychiatry. We at the Sacks office extend our love and sympathies to Dr. Sacks’s partner, Billy Hayes, and we are enormously grateful for the outpouring of love and support from Dr. Sacks’s readers and friends around the world. With love from Kate Edgar, Hallie Parker, Yolanda Rueda, Hailey Wojcik, and Kai Furbeck . Posted by Oliver Sacks Foundation on Sunday, August 30, 2015 Revered Neurologist Robert Sacks passed away at his home in Manhattan on Sunday August 30, 2015. Called “The  Poet Laureate of Medicine”  by The New York Times, He penned 13 books some of which have been adapted for Stage and Film. While many of his quotes are music related, this quote struck a chord with me.   About WFP QuotesDaily inspirational quotes about life, being in love, the beach, fishing, and success. RIP BB KING

RIP BB KING

I was saddened this morning to hear B.B. King had passed, but at 89 1/2 I can only hope to live as full a life as he did. One of the greatest Guitarist of all time, his music, his blues, did as much to shape Rock n Roll as much as any. He inspired generations of guitarist, and will continue to do so I believe. RIP BB KING “I don’t think anybody steals anything; all of us borrow” – BB King Quote In his tribute to BB, Eric Clapton doesn’t agree, and thinks the blues is dying. No offense “God”, but I think the blues will survive. As long as kids out there are learning to play guitar, the blues will survive. BB King’s inspiration, will never be lost, because so many great one’s were inspired by it, and future generations will be inspired by it.. The way he made “Lucille” sing, is every guitar players inspiration, that is what everyone who has ever picked up guitar was trying to accomplish. Some just do it much better than others…. Thanks for playing Lucille for us BB, someday I hope to see you perform again in that great gig in the sky. Eric Clapton’s Good by to B.B. King BB King a dear friend and inspiration to me…. RIP Ben E King – Stand by Me

RIP Ben E King – Stand by Me

Best known for writing the lyrics to “Stand by Me”, a song that shaped music, Ben E. King passed yesterday at 76. In reference to today’s generation of musicians, he was quoted as saying, “Those things don’t happen today. I feel sorry for the kids in the industry today. They have on sunglasses, eat caviar in jet planes, but they’ll never know the true feeling that we did.” I was going to make the photo quote of that, but I really didn’t think people would understand… Everyone knows the words to Stand by Me, so it was a more logical choice… When the night has come And the land is dark And the moon is the only light we’ll see No, I won’t be afraid Oh, I won’t be afraid Just as long as you stand, stand by me So darling, darling Stand by me, oh stand by me About Thomas StrubingerHusband, Father, Foodie, Cardinal Fan. Sam Simon loses battle with Cancer

Sam Simon loses battle with Cancer

Sim Simon one of the co-creators with Matt Groening of “The Simpsons” has died today. Mr. Simon lost a long hard fought battle with cancer, and is best known for his work on the first 13 episodes of the Simpsons. Many of the writers who worked the early days, considers him to have given the heart and soul to the characters. He made them three dimensional by developing their personalities, and not going from one skit to another. As the longest running series on TV, this small fact had to have had played a roll. The Sam Simon Foundation After he left The Simpsons, the checks kept rolling in, and the vegan decided to start a foundation. The Sam Simon Foundation, feeds the homeless, fights for animal rights, and offers service animals for those in need. Millions of Simon’s own money has been used to fund this foundation, and countless animals have been given new life thanks to it.
